Sanctuary Care: National Chef Conference 2021

Recently, our Commercial Director, Neil Shayle (also an ex-chef), was invited to attend Sanctuary Care’s National Chef Conference in the Midlands, as a guest speaker, presenting to 120 chefs. As part of an ongoing commitment to customer training and development, Neil was keen to use the opportunity to share knowledge about Zupa’s eProcurement trading platform, to ensure that the chefs at Sanctuary Care are able to get the best out of the technology and their experience.

Neil covered several topics such as how chefs can access the digitised recipe bank included within the software. He also talked about building recipes, recipe spec cards and how the trading platform can also help to manage complex allergens and nutritional data via its allergy matrix.

The last year has been a challenging one, particularly for the care industry. Much of the sector has struggled with the impact of Covid-19 and also a fairly high turnover of staff. Using the right technology is helpful in reducing the impact of admin and resource-stretched staff. Whether that means reducing the manpower needed to keep on top of inventory and purchasing via automation or making sure you stick to budgets and don’t overspend, streamlining these processes will remove the reliance on human intervention where possible and hopefully ease some of the time pressures faced by the care sector.

Neil also talked about the importance of goods receiving deliveries timely and correctly, as well as imparting some top tips for using the Zupa system when creating multiple orders.

With a number of new technology developments across the platform, Neil also shared some insight as to what new features are on the horizon for 2022.

The Head of Hospitality Services at Sanctuary Care, who organised the conference said, “We would like to say a huge thank you to Neil for his participation in the conference this year. His presentation was very well received and the feedback that we have been given has been overwhelmingly positive.”
